Bain threatens to close Sensata immediatly if the workers don't stop protesting

From the story on MSNBC, "The plant is slated to be closed in December, but top Bain Capital executives came to Freeport on Tuesday and threatened to close the plant immediately if workers continued to protest their jobs being outsourced."

More on Sensata HERE and HERE.

Will Republicans like Schilling continue to undermine FEMA?

It's a tough question. When Romney said he would get rid of FEMA and leave it up to the states to fund disaster relief (Illinois can't even fund their schools or prisons) he was just reflecting the feelings of other Republican polititions (look at Steve King over in Iowa). There is a good story HERE on the recent attempts of house Republicans like Schilling to nickel and dime disaster relief. The problem is that disaster relief is money well spent - the quicker an area gets back on its feet the quicker they are back to producing goods and services for the economy. The quicker an area gets back on its feet the fewer people that will need things like food stamps or healthcare. Who knows where Schilling stands since he can't seem to give a straight answer to any question.

Schilling now claims he is a Democrat in new mailing

This guy must be underwater in the polls! The Schilling campaign sent out a mailer in which Schilling trys to pass himself off as a Democrat - see the full story HERE.

Update:

I received the same mailer yesterday and was able to go over it last night. Basically Schilling is trying to make it look like he is "endorced" by Democrats using a phony newspaper. I thumbed through the piece and a couple of outright lies jumped out. (This guy has no shame and no integrity.)

  1. He alleges that Cheri is supporting the infamous $750 billion+ "cuts" to Medicare. There are two problems with this claim. The first is that they are cuts to future provider reimbursements and cuts to the subsidies provided private insurers in the Medicare Advantage program and NOT recipients. The second problem is that Schilling voted for these same cuts to the penny.
  2. He also alleges that the Ryan budget plan for Medicare, a plan that he voted for, would allow recipients to choose from private insurance plans. So far so good - but what he doesn't mention is the added cost of this approach, estimated to be $6,400/recipient.
  3. He never mentions that he is part of the Medicare problem. His insistance that Medicare pay full list price for drugs costs all of us an estimated $60 billion+.

With Hurricane Sandy Bearing Down on the East Coast - Remember That Schilling Voted to cut FEMA

With a "Frankenstorm" bearing down on the East coast remember that Schilling tried to cut FEMA funding in two ways. The first was to cut their funding overall, and the second, and just as important, was to cut the FEMA emergency fund established by President Obama. The president’s idea was to have $10 billion set aside for Katrina-like emergencies so that FEMA could act quickly. Bobby Schilling sought to cut that money insisting that Congress could deliberate on emergency funding while the victims cooled their heals. Read more about it in The Palm Beach Post. Note that this is the same approach that the House of Representives has used for drought relief and Schilling left town to campaign without doing anything - Illinois farmers are still waiting.

Pre Debate Rally for Cheri Bustos Thursday, Oct 25 in Peoria

On Thursday, October 25, Illinois Congressional voting district IL 17 residents will join to support Congressional Candidate Cheri Bustos at WTVP Studio as Bustos debates Mr. 1% candidate Bobby Schilling.

Residents will rally to say ‘No’ to the man who has allowed good jobs to be shipped overseas devastating an entire community in Freeport, Illinois. “Schilling is allowing Bain Capital, a company founded under Mitt Romney, to ship middle class jobs to a foreign country on his watch,” says Deborah Johnson. This shows me that Shilling is spineless and will not speak up for his constituents when it really matters. We need someone like Cheri Bustos, a woman who will guard her district like a mama bear. We need a champion in D.C., and not an obstructionist like Shilling.”

For months, constituents of Rep. Bobby Schilling have asked him to back an economy that works for everyone but he supports a Romney Economy including extending the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy. Cheri Bustos promises to protect Medicare, Social Security, and create more middle class jobs.
WHO: 99% Voters from IL 17 Congressional District
WHAT: Rally to Support Bustos for Congress (IL 17) – Say “No” to Mr. 1% Candidate Bobby Schilling
WHEN: 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012
PLACE: In front of WTVP TV Station, 101 State Street, Peoria, Illinois
